<h2><span style="font-family: Verdana;">Plant-Based Treaty and Edinburgh Scotland&nbsp;</span></h2><p><span style="font-family: Verdana;">I wish we were writing this to bestow accolades to a country like Scotland for taking steps to respect all the living creatures on the face of this planet, but alas this is not the case. The city council has signed on to the Plant Based Treaty, an initiative which aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from animal agriculture. Admirable of course, we all need this planet, including the animals. So this step toward making plant-based a much larger component of every day life in Edinburgh is actually really huge.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: Verdana;">Since many of us think of traditional dishes in Scotland like haggis, truly the near antithesis of plant forward dishes, it is good to know that a vegan haggis is available currently. Perhaps this move will mean more talented chefs will take on the task of veganising other traditional dishes. While in Scotland a few years back we loved the vegan fry up. Plant-based sausages, beans with no pork additives, mushroom caps, home fries, potato scones toast and coffee and it was available almost everywhere we went, so when we heard this news, it was not surprising.
